FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How much does TutorFluid cost?
New tutors receive a 45-day free trial starting when their tutor profile is created, then pay $9.99/month. No card is needed to build your site during the trial. Add your TutorFluid billing card before your booking site goes live: students cannot book sessions or buy packages until billing is set up. Adding a card does not restart your trial, and there is no subscription charge before the trial ends. Cancel before the end to avoid the first charge. This billing card is separate from connecting Stripe or PayPal to receive student payments. Students do not pay a TutorFluid platform subscription. Standard payment-processing fees apply to online lesson payments.
Can I cancel during my free trial?
Yes. Cancel in Billing settings before your trial ends to avoid the first monthly charge. Cancellation is scheduled for the end of the trial, so you keep tutor access until then. You can choose “Undo cancellation” before that date if you want to continue. Canceling does not pause the trial clock.
What happens if I cancel and come back later?
Signing in does not restart your trial or undo cancellation. If cancellation is still scheduled and your trial has not ended, you can keep using TutorFluid until the end date and choose “Undo cancellation” if you want to stay. If the subscription has already ended, restart it from the billing screen: any remaining trial time is preserved; if the trial has expired, $9.99 is due when you restart, then monthly. Checkout confirms your first charge date before you pay.
Do students need a Stripe or PayPal account to pay?
Students can pay by debit or credit card through Stripe without a Stripe account. PayPal may offer card guest checkout, depending on the account and purchase. A TutorFluid account is needed to book and manage lessons. Tutors can also accept payment directly, such as cash, Venmo or Zelle, and mark lessons paid. Online payment connections are optional.
Are there accounts for students and parents?
Yes. Students have their own dashboard to manage lessons, view credits and open lesson links. Tutors can invite parents to a separate family account to book, reschedule or cancel lessons for linked children, buy credits and pay invoices. Parents can also message the tutor in a separate conversation. Each child keeps their own lessons and credits, and private student messages are not shared with parents.
Does TutorFluid take a cut of my earnings?
TutorFluid charges 0% commission on lesson earnings. Standard processing fees apply when using Stripe or PayPal. Payments you handle directly have no TutorFluid transaction fee. The $9.99/month tutor platform subscription is separate.
Can I offer packages and subscriptions alongside pay-per-session?
Yes. Offer individual sessions, one-time prepaid packages, and automatically renewing monthly plans. Accept one-time payments through Stripe or PayPal, connect Stripe for monthly subscriptions, or use monthly lesson invoices to bill after lessons.
What if I want to accept payment outside of TutorFluid (Venmo, cash, etc.)?
No problem. You can allow specific students, subjects, or sessions to book without prepayment. When they pay you directly — Venmo, cash, Zelle, whatever works — just mark the session as paid with one tap. TutorFluid keeps track of everything either way.
How can I use my calendar with TutorFluid?
Connect Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook to keep your TutorFluid lessons updated in your calendar. Google also displays your Google events inside TutorFluid. With either connection, you can optionally prevent bookings during busy appointments. Reschedule or cancel lessons in TutorFluid, and your calendar copies update automatically. Prefer a simple link? Subscribe to your lessons in Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook instead. These options work independently, and your private appointment details are never shown to students.
Can I offer group sessions?
Yes. Offer up to 20 students per time slot with an optional discounted group rate. Students see how many spots are left and book the same slot. For online group lessons, connect Zoom, Google Meet or your own Lessonspace account, or use a saved custom meeting link.
Can I use TutorFluid’s video room, Zoom, Google Meet or Lessonspace?
TutorFluid includes a built-in HD video room for 1-on-1 lessons, with a live whiteboard and in-session chat. Optional recordings are available for both participants to download for up to 7 days. For individual or group lessons, you can also connect Zoom, Google Meet or your own Lessonspace account, or save a custom meeting link. Lessonspace is billed separately by Lessonspace.
